- Who I am
- My story
I am Ellice Whyte, an accredited business psychologist with a master’s degree in psychology and further training in counselling and education. By using social scientific research methods, I help organisations promote and maintain a healthy environment, minimise the impact of poor mental health on their business and help all employees thrive at work.
I am incredibly proud of the reputation I have built over the years and my support has reached various sectors across the globe. I truly care about people’s health and wellbeing and always strive to engage, educate and empower an organisation to embed best practices, make a real-life impact and reach their full potential.
You often find that people who work in psychology have their own personal experiences with mental health, and their experiences spark a passion for the field. I have a lived experience of an eating disorder that continued from school to university. I’m now doing a doctorate investigating staff supporting student mental health because my experience makes me passionate about teaching schools and universities how to provide early interventions when supporting student wellbeing.
Still, I realised I wanted to be a psychologist when, during my music degree, I did a module on Music Therapy in my second year. I worked with people with dementia, autism and terminal illnesses, and seeing people relive forgotten memories, communicate their emotions and live in less physical and emotional pain was a magic door that opened a new world for me. I finished my music degree having specialised in music therapy. However, I knew that I wanted to learn more, and I went back to university to retrain and do psychology. Here I am today, a business psychologist, and I absolutely love my job!
How did I choose to practice business/occupational psychology? I had an incredibly difficult time at a previous employer. The stress I endured had made me so unwell that I was taken to the hospital and treated for a suspected mini-stroke. After months of recovery, I became fascinated by occupational psychology and how to protect the mental health of the workforce. Our workplace can make or break our wellbeing and our business outcomes, and my experiences drive me to cultivate healthy working environments for the benefit of everyone.
I want to create healthy working environments for people and organisations to thrive and reach their full potential.
