Overview

Over the last decade, workplaces have invested heavily in mental health and wellbeing awareness: campaigns, training, webinars, posters, apps, MHFA… Awareness has gone up, but for many, the day‑to‑day experience of work has not changed enough.

So what is getting in the way of real behaviour change?

In this practical and slightly provocative session, Business Psychologist Ellice Whyte will explore how to move from awareness to psychological fitness at work. We will look at why “awareness‑only” approaches often fall short, how headlines about “overdiagnosis” risk missing the point, and what needs to shift in how we design work and wellbeing, not just how we talk about it.

Core Objectives:

  • Understand why awareness‑only initiatives often fail to deliver meaningful change
  • Be able to describe psychological fitness at work in clear, accessible terms
  • Identify at least one practical action at individual, team, leadership and organisational level to grow psychological fitness

Who is this for?

  • HR and L&D professionals designing wellbeing and leadership programmes
  • People managers and leaders who want to do more than “tick the awareness box”
  • Mental Health First Aiders / Wellbeing Champions
  • Anyone who cares about mental health at work and wants to see real, sustainable change
