Stress Risk Assessments

What is a Stress Risk Assessment?

What is a Stress Risk Assessment?

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) outlines six key areas that can lead to work-related stress: demands, control, support, relationships, role, and change. A stress risk assessment explores how these factors are showing up in your workplace — and helps you put thoughtful, proportionate steps in place to improve them.

If you employ five or more people, you’re legally required to carry out and document risk assessments — including those for stress. But this isn’t just about compliance; it’s about care. A well-done assessment can improve morale, reduce absence, and show your people that you take their wellbeing seriously.
